Magicians Morgan and West ready to teach Croydon a trick or two
If you are a fan of magic and the Victorian era then the Morgan and West show may just be for you, writes Andy Bloss.
Tricksters Rhys Morgan and Rob West, known more commonly as Morgan and West, perform their show The Time Travelling Magicians.
The pair will showcase an array of deceptions and tricks which they hope will have the audience’s mind in knots.
They have performed at the Edinburgh Fringe numerous times and were the winners of ITV’s Penn and Teller: Fool Us 2011 award.
From classic card tricks to a daring escape, the pair look to trick their way through time with a whole host of sleight of hand tricks along the way.
The pair both studied at Oxford University which is where they began their magical education.
Vibe caught up with Rhys Morgan who says he cannot wait to tour the country once again.
A word of warning though, audience members will be expected to participate.
Morgan says: "We have just taken a new show up to Edinburgh which went really well. It isn’t the one we will be touring with but it was good to give it a run out.
"Our story is a bit unusual as we haven’t always been into magic. It started at University where we both started learning magic and it became a bit of a competition of who could learn the most tricks.
"We take on the guise of Morgan and West, Victorian conjurors who find a time machine in 1888 and go and settle in modern day life which they prefer."
He adds: "There are plenty of opportunities for the audience to get involved. We must use about 20 people in the show so it is very interactive.
"We don’t want to embarrass anyone, it is a chance to experience the magic trick first hand.
"If I had to persuade someone on the street to come along to watch the show, I would turn my back, ask them to get their bank card out, and I will then tell them their bank details.
"That usually persuades people pretty quickly to come and see the show."
