A new community grant programme has been formally launched, following the success of the scheme’s pilot.
More than 70 people, including Dominic Raab, MP for Esher and Walton, and members of Elmbridge Council and Surrey County Council, attended the launch held by Walton Charity at Fenner House, Hersham, on Friday, September 13.
The launch celebrated the success of the pilot and was an opportunity for attendees to hear about the charity’s aspirations for the future.
The pilot scheme helped 11 organisations to gain grant funding including Rydens Enterprise School, Elmbridge Rentstart and Elmbridge youth support services.
Jackie Lodge, chief executive of Walton Charity, said: “We have worked hard in the past few years to bring about internal changes so that we are now able to support partner organisations to directly help those most in need.
“There is much more to be done and we are determined to ensure that our funding makes a positive impact on local lives and communities.”
The current areas of interest for grant funding are children, young people and young adults, housing enablement focusing on adults aged up to 35 and people of all ages living in areas of need.
