After great successes locally and nationally last season, Croydon Amphibians have had a busy summer.

Finn Slattery took part in a Half Ironman for the children's charity Ordinary2Extraordinay at the beginning of August.

The 1.9k swim was at Tooting Bec Lido, followed by the 90k cycle to and around Richmond Park, finishing with a 21k run.

Finn's motivation was to help the needy children that O2e support and get out of his own comfort zone and test himself, and he completed the course in six hours, 52 minutes.

Meanwhile, after a successful competition at the Nationals, Rhys Singleton, 14, has been selected to represent Surrey in the Inter Counties Championships in Sheffield, and invited to take part in the London Region England Talent Profiling day in October.

Croydon Amphibians have geared up for the coming season with the introduction of two new squads, development I and development II.

The Club are also delighted to welcome Marian Mckenna as the new gold squad coach.

McKenna was an Amphibian swimmer for many years, and she was the first female club captain and still holds some club records.

She has been coaching and teaching for 16 years and has coached at CASC, Redhill & Reigate and South Croydon, as well as the swimming coach for Whitgift School.
