Man dies after falling from car park roof at Innes Yard, near Croydon flyover
Emergency services have been called to the town centre after a man fell to his death from a car park roof.
Police and London Ambulance are at the scene in Innes Yard, next to The Croydon Flyover.
The incident happened shortly before 3.10pm.
A local business owner, who asked not to be named, was first on the scene after the man fell.
He said: "I was out the back having a cigarette when I just heard a scream and then a slap.
"I was the first to the body but it was obvious he wasn't going to have survived. He was dead as soon as he hit the floor.
"He was face down on the floor. His face was pretty badly damaged and there was a lot of blood. It was pretty gruesome.
"These girls got on the phone straight away and the ambulance and police came pretty quickly but it was obvious there was nothing they could do. You don't survive that.
"He must have fallen from the top because if you look at the railings on the other levels it's the only one you could go over.
"I'd say he was probably in his 50s but it was hard to tell."
A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said: "We were called just before 3.10pm to reports of a person fallen from a height.
"We sent two ambulance crews, a single responder in a car and an officer to the scene.
"Sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene."
