Fairy-tale author Kia Garriques prepares for Croydon tour
A kids author is kick starting her book tour in Croydon today.
Kia Garriques, dubbed the fairy-tale author, will be showcasing her new book Innovera Yakov: The Journey of the Thousand Eyes.
The event is taking place at the Waterstones bookshop in Croydon on September 28 between 12pm and 2pm.
She is also reading some of the book at Coombe Girls school on October 4 and at Croydon Library on October 26.
The author has been asked by young readers to do a tour and Garriques said she felt overwhelmed by the support she has received.
She said: “Innovera Yakov is a beautiful world of crystals that turns under five moons and two brilliant suns that never set. “It is a very sophisticated read and so initially I thought that readers under the age of 18 would not really get it, let alone understand the language and messages in the book.
“In the meantime I am happy that parents have embraced the book and are enjoying it and recommending it to their teenagers.
“I am happy that it is helping others. This is what I live for. If I can make a difference to just one person’s life, I am happy.”
