Bunga Bunga is not to be mistaken for one of Silvio Berlusconi's notorious parties.

The 'Englishman's Italian', located in Battersea Bridge Road, is a bar, pizzeria and karaoke venue all rolled into one.

It was opened by Duncan Stirling and Charlie Gilkes in 2011, a group of entrepreneurs who run a collection of themed clubs across London.

Bunga Bunga is their only venue south of the river, with the likes of Prince Harry, Katherine Jenkins and Mollie King among the clientèle.

Italian waiters serve dishes wearing stripy t-shirts and Michelangelo aprons, while a tongue-in-cheek atmosphere runs through the restaurant.

But despite the wicked humour, and pizza names like Julius Cheeser, the food is seriously tasty.

The restaurant has recently launched a new Pazzo Wednesday Pasta night, where diners can indulge in three pasta dishes and a bottle of wine for the bargain price of £18 per head.

My guest and I enjoyed pesto linguine, mushroom ravioli and a tantalising bolognese tagliatelle.

We washed it all down with a fine bottle of Sangiovese Toscana red wine.

Everything comes served on rustic wooden boards and in little dishes, making it easy to share with the rest of the table.

There would be no point in visiting without tasting a signature cocktail.

The Bunga Bunga comes in a comedy Berlusconi mug, filled with gin, crushed peppercorns and grapefruit juice.

After the pasta and drinks we enjoyed some live music from Colombolco, who performed Italian sings fused with gypsy beats.

A Eurovision themed party-room is also available to hire, while there are regular club nights and karaoke on Thursday evenings.
