A councillor has branded a motorcyclist a “twit” after he ended up in hospital following a crash in Cheam Village.
Councillor Mary Burstow made the comment after a motorbike and a car collided in Ewell Road. Coun Burstow said she was told by police the biker was racing another motorcyclist.
The scene in Cheam Village yesterday
Police were called just after 1.30pm on Sunday, October 6, to reports of a collision between a car and a motorbike.
A male biker was taken to hospital by ambulance and road closures were put in place while the vehicles were removed.
Cheam councillor Mary Burstow came across the incident soon afterwards and branded the rider a “twit” because he came off near a pedestrian crossing.

Mrs Burstow said: “I am sorry, but I have no time for riders like this. I hope the police threw the book at them.
"Don’t ride motorbikes with big engines if you do not know how to properly handle them. And don’t ride motorbikes at speed through a built-up area.
“It is worth noting the twit came off near a pedestrian crossing. Thank goodness a child was not hit.
“The net effect of all this was a massive tailback through Anne Boleyn’s Walk and no doubt into Ewell.”
