Gary Cody, the man accused of fatally injuring PC Andrew Duncan in a hit-and-run attack in Sutton last month, appeared in court over video link this morning.
The 25-year-old, from Holland Road, South Norwood, spoke only to confirm his name as he made his first Crown Court appearance in connection with the death of PC Duncan on a video link with HMP Belmarsh where he is on remand.
Father-of-two PC Duncan, from East Molesey, was fatally injured when he tried to flag down a black Volkswagen Golf during a routine traffic enforcement operation in Reigate Avenue, Rosehill, on Friday, September 20. The car left the scene.
The Merton-based 47-year-old was taken to hospital with a broken neck but died two days later. A post mortem concluded he died from multiple injuries.

Cody was arrested after he went to a police station several hours later.
Earlier that day officers seized a suspect car that had been dumped in Hyde Walk, less than a mile from where the collision happened.
Cody is due to appear at Kingston Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on December 20.
