Many students are off school today due to their teachers striking, but one schoolboy and his class are enjoying "the best day ever" at school.

Alex Whiter, a pupil at Keston Primary School in Coulsdon, won Tesco's Back to School competition, which promised to provide the winner with the best ever school day.

As part of his prize the six-year-old and his classmates had three celebrity teachers taking over their lessons for a day.

The class enjoyed three special lessons, with Aston Merrygold from JLS teaching a dance class and Masterchef winner Natalie Coleman teaching a home economics class this morning and CBeebies Mister Maker teaching an art class this afternoon.

The JLS star taught pupils the moves to the band's hit "You make me wanna", before showing off his famous back-flip.

Speaking after the class the singer said he had been more nervous about teaching the class, than he was performing in front of 20,000 people at the O2.

He said: "I was so scared. You know what it's like at school, you don't have a long attention span. If someone said Aston from JLS was coming to my school I'd want to go outside.

"But they were amazing, I am very pleased with them. They were really attentive and willing to get involved, it was fun."

Headteacher Claire Murphy said: "The children are really excited and have been really looking forward to it.

"They loved the class with Aston this morning and are really excited about the other classes this afternoon."
