Croydon and District Fundraising Group fundraisers appeal for new members
A volunteer group is appealing for new members to help it raise money for charity.
Croydon & District Fundraising Group has raised more than £1.6m for Cancer Research UK since its formation in 1953,
It will hold two open evenings next week so people can hear about its work and get involved.
The first will be at the King and Queen in Caterham-on-the-Hill at 7.30pm on Wednesday, October 23.
The second will be at The Pembroke in Coulsdon at 7.30pm on Thursday, October 24.
Don Davis, the group's chair, said: "This type of fundraising is rewarding in so many ways. It's sociable and a great way to meet new people.
"Furthermore, our fundraising efforts contribute directly to helping Cancer Research UK scientists continue their research into the prevention and treatment of cancer."
Jenny Flack, Cancer Research UK’s fundraising manager for Croydon, said: "I would like to thank the Croydon fundraising group for the fantastic amount they have raised and the massive contribution they have made to our vital work over the past 60 years.
"Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer and continues to do so. However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and supporters without whom we would not be able to fund our vital research."
