An Esher hospice is among the Elmbridge charities shortlisted for a £3,000 grant.
Princess Alice Hospice is in the running for the community award by Lloyds Bank and is seeking help from supporters to vote for them to secure the money.
The community fund will provide grants to more than 1,300 good causes across the country, with four listed for each community area.
The two causes with the most votes will receive £3,000 each and £300 will be given to those which come in third and fourth place.
If the hospice wins, the grant will be used toward the major redevelopment of the hospice’s reception area, which works recently began on.
Julie Thomas, development manager at Princess Alice Hospice, said: “This £3,000 could make such a difference to our patients and families by helping us to create private areas for them to spend some precious time together.
“The hospice can often be quite busy and lively and so we are hoping these areas will provide families the space to simply have a meal together or have time to chat.”
Supporters have until November 1 to vote for charities and community projects in the area.
