Police have this morning charged a man with assisting a convicted murderer who absconded from a mental health centre.

Lerone Boye of Beckton, was jailed for 28 years last December after being found guilty of killing Kelvin Chibueze from New Addington on August 15, 2011.

The 17-year-old victim was chased and stabbed after a fight broke out during a private party at the Arteflex Club in Illford.

Dean Ablakwa, 29, from north London, a member of staff at the John Howard Centre, in Homerton, east London, has been charged with one offence of conspiracy to assist Boye escape from lawful custody.

He has been remanded in police custody and will appear at Thames Magistrates' Court this morning.

Police in Hackney continue to appeal for assistance in tracing Lerone Boye, who is still missing.

He absconded from the centre at about 2pm on Wednesday, October 16.

He is described as black man, approximately 5ft 10ins of slim build and with short black hair. He has a scar on his right cheek, a goatee beard and a gold tooth in his upper row of teeth.

The public are advised not to approach Boye but call 999 if seen.
