Detectives have released CCTV of two men they want to speak to following two mobile phone thefts on trams.

The first victim, a 35-year-old woman from Greenwich, was travelling on a tram from Ampere Way, Croydon on Friday, October 4.

As the tram stopped at Wandle Park at about 12.20pm she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her phone and ran off the tram.

The second incident happened on Sunday, October 13, as a tram approached Arena tram stop at around 11.30am.

The victim, a 55-year-old Australian man who was visiting London, boarded the tram at West Croydon.

As it stopped at Arena tram stop, a man ran towards him and snatched his phone before running off the tram.

Investigators have viewed CCTV footage and released images of two men who were in the area when both incidents took place.

The appeal follows the launch of Operation Magnum earlier this year, a campaign to help Tube and rail passengers keep valuables safe from pickpockets, gadget-grabbers and luggage thieves.
