Gardeners can help the borough look blooming beautiful next year by helping plant hundreds of thousands of bulbs at events in Sutton's parks.

The council is calling on green fingered folk to help out as 800,000 bulbs are planted around the borough's parks and open spaces over the coming weeks.

Councillor Jill Whitehead, chair, woman of the council's environment and neighbourhood committee, said: "This is a good chance for local people to enjoy the green and open spaces that Sutton has to offer while also helping ensure the area’s natural beauty for the new year.

"We work extremely closely with the various friends’ groups and appreciate all their efforts to maintain the parks in the borough. I hope lots of people spare a bit of time and help with this worthwhile scheme."

The project is part of the council's Take Part, Take Pride initiative.
