Shiver me timbers, a squall of sea shanties fit to get salty seadogs stomping is promised by Kimber’s Men who are coming to Epsom next month.
The group appeared on the BBC’s Sea Songs and have earned rave reviews at folk festivals across the nation, plus Ireland and Holland.
The group posses the finest bass player on the British folk scene today - and arguably the best folk singer since Paul Robeson - John Bromley. Joe Stead, one of the founding members of the group actually sang with Robeson and is a friend of American folk legend Pete Seeger.
So there is a good chance you will get a rendition of Old Man River at some point during the concert.
Kimber’s Men performed at Epsom Playhouse in 2001 when they first formed but haven't been back since.
Stead says: "We are really looking forward to this show. We hope to be seeing some old friends in the audience who live locally. It will be wonderful if some of them turn up."
