A cyber cafe and a tea bar were among the services enjoyed as a community centre opened its doors for an open morning.

More than 100 people were welcomed to Claygate centre for the community and Claygate and Oxshott children’s centre on Monday, October 14, and a range of therapists were on hand to carry out treatments for those who fancied a bit of pampering.

Those with youngsters under five also enjoyed Diwali arts and crafts and staff and health visitors answered questions parents had.

Councillor Christine Elmer, portfolio holder for social affairs, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to returning again soon. Claygate Centre has such a lot to offer those in the local community.

“People can come and make new friends whilst benefiting from joining in the different groups that run at the centre; this could be an art class one day or a bridge group the next. In addition there are Dementia and Parkinson’s groups supporting local residents.”
