A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries after a collision this evening.
Police said a car and motorcycle collided at 8pm this evening in Sandy Lane South.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries which are said to be potentially life-threatening.
The female car driver stopped at the scene and has not been arrested.
The road is still cordoned off at 10.45pm.
Sandy Lane South has been the scene of numerous traffic accidents in the past and residents have long been campaigning to have traffic calming measures such as traffic lights, or speed humps put in.
British boxing Champion Gary Mason was killed in January 2011 when he was knocked off his bike by a van as he turned in to Sandy Lane South.
