Streatham residents are without water after a pipe burst, causing low pressure in surrounding properties.

The leaking three-inch water pipe on Streatham High Road has left some residents without water since yesterday evening.

Thames Water delivered bottled water to residents at 5am today as they arrived to fix the pipe.

A spokesman for Thames Water said repairs should be finished by later today but could not confirm how many homes have been affected.

Mark Stiebel, who lives off the High Road in Baldry Gardens, said his street was without water between 7pm and midnight last night.

He said: "I think residents find it frustrating because we don't have any choice with our water supplier in London.

"We pay a lot of money for it so we don't expect not to have it.

"It makes you think about what it must be like for people in third world countries who don't have easy access to water."

A Thames Water spokesman added: "We do not offer compensation to residents in these circumstances."
