Driver cut from car at Fiveways Corner after crash with ambulance on emergency call
An ambulance collided with a car yesterday while responding to an emergency call.
The accident happened at about 1.15pm at the Five Ways junction in Waddon.
Firefighters had to cut the roof off the black BMW involved in the crash, to free the driver from the vehicle.
Police attended the incident and cordoned off the scene, while diverting traffic.
A spokesman for London Ambulance said: "We can confirm an ambulance was in a collision with a car at Fiveways Corner just before 1.15pm yesterday.
"Two further ambulance crews, two responders in cars and an officer attended the scene.
"The car driver, a man in his 20s was suffering from neck pain. He was treated at the scene and taken to Croydon University Hospital.
"The ambulance crew were also taken to the same hospital to be checked over."
The road reopened just after 6pm.
