A man has died after apparently stabbing himself in the chest outside a house last night.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene outside a home in Berry Meade, Ashtead, at about 7pm on Friday, November 8.

Police said the man's death is being treated as non-suspicious and said there is no evidence of any third-party involvement.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, near Ashtead Cricket Club Ground, after being found by offiers and paramedics with a suspected stab wound to the chest.

A Surrey Police spokesman said: “He has yet to be formally identified.

"The death is being treated as non-suspicious and there is no indication of any third party involvement.

“A report will be submitted to the coroner’s office in due course.

"Officers have carried out house to house enquiries in the area and are providing information and reassurance to residents in the local community.”
