Kingston’s controversial nightclub Oceana has closed its doors for the last time – and will re-open this week as new late-night hotspot Pryzm.

The Clarence Street venue, which had its licence temporarily revoked following the murder of clubber Jamie Sanderson last year, hosted a final hurrah on Saturday, November 9.

It will re-launch this Friday, November 15, with a ticket-only party featuring pyrotechnics, stilt-walkers, Britain’s Got Talent contestants Globots and Magic FM DJ Neil Fox.

Owners Luminar spent £1m on reinventing the nightclub in the wake of Mr Sanderson’s death on October 25, 2012.

The company won back the club’s licence after agreeing a series of restrictions with Kingston Council in June, announcing soon after that it would be changing its name as part of a nationwide roll-out.

Luminar claims the new-look Pryzm will appeal to a more mature customer, featuring three dance arenas and a music room for over-21s only.

A new app will allow customers to order and pay for drinks via their smartphone or tablet, and have them delivered to their table without needing to queue.

The club will also be serving food in the new Curve bar for the first time.

Pryzm manager Dan Corry said: “The club interior is really starting to take shape and I am confident will have the wow factor when we re-open our doors.

“We are the first in our estate to be trialling a food offer in our Curve bar and clubbers will also be able to use our X-press Drinks app, which removes the need to queue and pay for drinks at the bar.

“They will be able to order drinks from their phone or tablet, pay for them with their PayPal account or a debit or credit card and have them delivered straight to their table or private booth.”
