Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman died from head injuries after falling out of a black BMW.

Officers were called by London Ambulance Service to Dunsfold Way, New Addington, at about 8.04am on Tuesday to reports a woman had suffered a cardiac arrest.

The 20-year-old was taken to Croydon University Hospital where she later died.

Police said the victim fell from a black BMW 325 the night before - Monday November, 11 - at between 8.45pm and 11.30pm somewhere in New Addington.

Detectives believe there may have been someone else in the car who witnessed the fall.

Officers are urgently seeking any witnesses who may have seen the events leading up to the man and woman getting into the black BMW car and driving away from Dunsfold Way, New Addington, that evening.

A post-mortem took place yesterday at the Princess Royal Hospital and gave the cause of death as head injuries. Officers await formal identification.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested and remains in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Diane Tudway, who is leading the investigation, said: "I believe this lady died as a result of the injuries sustained from falling from the car and that there may have been at least one other person in the BMW.

"I would urge that person, or anyone who witnessed the fall or has information that could help the enquiry to contact the incident room to help us piece together the events of that evening."

Yesterday neighbours in Dunsfold Way described their shock at the young woman's death, who is believed to be a regular visitor to the house in which she was found on Tuesday.

Detectives can be contacted in the incident room on 020 8721 4005 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
