The world’s number four Alison Waters proved too strong for all comers in winning the Wimbledon Squash Cup at the Wimbledon Racquets and Fitness Club last week.
Waters, the number one seed, beat the number two seed Emma Beddoes 3-1 in the final (10-12, 11-7, 11-8, 11-9).
She said: “Emma played well in the first game so I had to be determined to come out fighting, and I grew in confidence as the game went on.”
The men’s title also went to the number one seed when Tom Richards beat Australian Rex Hedrick 3-0 (12-10, 11-7, 11-5).
Richards said: “I am happy with my performance, Rex is a tricky player so I had to play well today. I’ve enjoyed the whole weekend, it has been a great chance to work on my game.”
Winner: Tom Richards, right, in action
