I had the honour of laying a wreath at the Upper Norwood War Memorial on Sunday at a very moving and well attended ceremony.

I would like to thank councillors John Wentworth, Pat Ryan and Eddy Arram for their attendance and am very proud of my local community.

I was very disappointed though that unlike on previous years Croydon police were not in attendance to stop the traffic.

I would like to use your publication to ask Croydon police to give an assurance that this oversight will not happen again.

However as often happens the Crystal Palace community stepped up to the plate themselves and I would like to thank Len Blomstrand for his forethought and public spirit in personally halting the traffic for the two minutes silence.
