More than 1,500 residents participated in the Stoptober quit smoking challenge last month.
A total of 1,562 smokers from across Croydon pledged to kick the habit, supported by the council's stop smoking specialist Solutions 4 Health, who offered information and advice.
The campaign is an important fixture in the council's Heart Town programme, which aims to tackle and raise awareness of heart disease.
Councillor Margaret Mead, cabinet member for adult services and health, said: "As a Heart Town, helping our residents to quit smoking and improve their health is one of the council’s main priorities.
"We are delighted with the high number of people that has pledged to give up."
