Disabled young people can enjoy a free disability football session thanks to Walton Casuals Football Club.

The team, whose ground is in Waterside Drive, will open a new junior disability football club at the Xcel leisure centre.

The club is aimed at 10 to 15-year-olds with learning and physical disabilities and will be a fun and enjoyable introduction to the sport.

Councillor Jan Fuller, portfolio holder for leisure and culture, said: “This free taster session will give young people with disabilities the opportunity to give football a try.

“The session will be supported by a professional coach but the emphasis will be on having fun and encouraging young people to be themselves.”

Coun Fuller hopes the club will provide a clear pathway for young people to realise their sporting potential.

The free taster session will take place on Thursday, November 28, at 4pm and sessions will then run on a weekly basis. Sessions are not currently suitable for wheelchair users.
