A special awards ceremony was held at The Norwood School in recognition of 150 students who ran a mile for charity.

The school in Upper Norwood held the ceremony during the Year 8 assembly on November 8, to award those who had participated in the run on October 23 and 24.

The run raised money and awareness of the Missing People charity and participants wore a missing person's poster on their back during the run.

Before the event students and staff had held mini fundraisers in their tutor groups, gained sponsors for running their mile and took part in a school bake off.

Missing People Family Representative Alexandra Hicks, whose brother Kevin has been missing from Croydon since March 1986, attended the assembly to present the awards to students.

She said: "The students and staff at The Norwood School have been really amazing. To watch each child absolutely determined to complete their mile, no matter what their ability, made me feel so proud.

"Not only did they raise money for the charity, but they also managed to have great fun doing it."
