The woman's body was found in the basement flat of this property
The death of a woman whose body was found in a flat in the town centre is not being treated as suspicious, police have said.
Police and paramedics were called to the basement flat in Tanfield Road just before 9am yesterday, and found the woman dead on arrival.
A police spokesman said it was believed the woman was 31-years-old and she is yet to be formally identified.
The cause of death is not yet known and a post-mortem is expected to be carried out early next week.
An inquest into the woman's death will be opened in due course.
