Volunteers are being sought for Age UK Wandsworth’s Garden Partners scheme.

The charity matches volunteer gardeners with garden owners aged 60-plus who need some help in the garden.

In return for carrying out basic gardening tasks, the volunteer has the chance to grow fruit, vegetables and herbs which are then jointly shared with their garden partner.

The scheme is funded by NHS Wandsworth and aims to promote healthier living and community involvement.

Sue Sweeney, the Garden Partners Coordinator said: “It’s an ideal opportunity for someone who doesn’t have a garden to grow their own veg, especially with the long waiting list for allotments in the borough.”
