Building works on the new Nelson Local Care Centre (LCC) which started in April is on course to be delivered by Spring 2015.

NHS Merton Clinical Commissioning Group has thanked the construction team ahead of a visit to the former Nelson Hospital site on Tuesday.

Merton CCG is responsible for the planning and buying of the clinical services that will provided at the centre.

The building of the Nelson Local Care Centre has been funded through the NHS Local Improvement Finance Trust (LIFT), a private and public partnership (PPP) and developed with South London Health Partnerships Ltd (SLHPs).

Dr Sion Gibby, local GP and CCG locality lead for Raynes Park said: “The local vision for the Nelson LCC is to provide a new, modern healthcare facility which has been designed around the patient and their needs.

“It’s location in the heart of the Merton community will enable people to be treated, where ever possible, close to where they live and be a local hub for the delivery of integrated health services.

“This is fantastic news for local patients. As well as providing modern purpose built facilities to house the two local general practices, it will also enable a broad range of community based services to be delivered locally including core primary care services, outpatient appointments, minor procedures, diagnostic tests, community services, pharmacy services, health information point and support for people living with long term conditions.”
