Cyclists are killed, sadly, all over Britain, in hundreds of road accidents by cars, vans, trucks and buses. On Tramlink most of the tracks are on private tracks.
Secondly, I am amazed how few houses had to make way for our tram system, and excellent compensation was paid. More new trees have been planted than were dug up. Do not, by the way, be confused by the matter of felling trees on Gravel Hill. It had nothing to do with the trams, for, had the trees been unsafe, they would have crashed down on buses as easily.
As for trolleybuses, they are limited to roads and can't go anywhere buses can't go.
The trams have largely used up old railway routes, bypassing congested streets.
