On Saturday, Jonas von Essen recalled 3,841 binary digits on his way to being crowned World Memory Champion 2013 at the tournament in Croydon.
In doing so the 23-year-old trounced the reining champion, a man with a mind so formidable he is known as the 'human hard drive'.
So you might assume Mr von Essen would find recounting handful of members of the Newsnight production team's names akin to Cristiano Ronaldo taking to a little league pitch.
Not so.
The newly crowned memory mastermind followed up his tournament glory by shooting to immeadiate Internet infamy with an appearance on the BBC2 current affairs programme last night, at the end of which he was challenged to recite the credits.
He floundered under the heat of the studio lights and the even hotter glare of Jeremy Paxman as he struggled to recall the very first name - that of the show's unforgiving presenter.
In fairness, Mr von Essen had just endured three days of gruelling mental athletics, including tasks such as recounting as many words as possible and recalling the order of 52 playing cards in just a few seconds.
Nonetheless, he may opt to tackle future mental marathons away from the spotlight.
The championships were held at the Croydon Conference Centre on November 30 to December 2.
