An £800,000 plan to regenerate the Wandle Valley will be made public at an exhibition next week.
The Wandle Valley Regional Park Trust has been spearheading a project which will see vast improvements made to green space across the area by March 2015.
Funded by the Mayor of London’s Big Green Fund, the project will see the Watermeads Nature Reserve in Mitcham opened to the public for the first time.
New pathways stretching a total of 4km will be built in the Wandle Valley through green spaces.
It will go through Poulter Park, between St Helier and Mitcham; Bennett’s Hole Nature Reserve in Mitcham; Spencer Road Wetlands in Hackbridge; and the area surrounding Tooting and Mitcham and Football club in Bishopsford Road.
The Trust is also set to introduce a training scheme for local people through the Wandle Green Team who will work to support the delivery of improvements and continued maintenance of parks.
An exhibition of the proposed work will be on display to the public at Tooting and Mitcham Football Club on December 11 from 3pm to 8pm.
