A dozy Battersea resident caught fly-tipping in Croydon has been fined over £500 - after leaving her address among the waste.
Iesha Price of Shelgate Road dumped rubbish, including a prescription bearing her name and house number, on land opposite Reeves Corner.
An enforcement officer from Croydon Council went through several sacks of household waste, some dumped by other fly-tippers, and identified Price before issuing her with a fixed-penalty notice.
But after failing to make payment, declining to attend an interview under caution and missing an initial court date, she finally surrendered herself and pleaded guilty.
She was fined £535 and ordered to pay court costs when she appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court.
As part of the council's 'Keep it Clean' campaign, £100,000 has been invested to combat fly-tipping and a mobile phone app has been launched to make it easier for residents to report environmental crime.
A team of officers is also patrolling town-centre locations and issuing fixed-penalty notices to anyone caught littering.
Councillor Simon Hoar, cabinet member for community safety and public protection, said: "There’s no excuse whatsoever for fly-tipping and anyone who’s caught will be issued with a fine to remind them that it is not only antisocial but also illegal.
"Failure to pay will result in court action and a far bigger fine as the courts also frown on such behaviour."
