A charity that supports adults with learning disabilities is seeking the help from people in the borough.

Elmbridge Community Link (ECL) launched a crowdfunder project in October to help raise £1,500 towards weekly soft sports sessions and the deadline to raise the funds is fast approaching.

The sessions are held at Walton Methodist Church Hall and although ECL charge a small fee to members, this year they have been run at a significant loss and cannot continue to do so.

The charity want to continue running the well-attended sessions in 2014 and need the funding to cover the shortfall for the spring term.

If ECL do not reached their fundraising target by Thursday, December 12, they will not receive any of the money backers of the project have already pledged.

Terri Collins, chairman of ECL, said: “We hope the local community can support us by pledging money to our soft sports project. Our members so enjoy these sessions.

“As well as keeping them fit, healthy and active, it can do wonders for our members’ confidence, which is so important to them and their carers and families.”

Backers to the project are rewarded for their pledge with gifts including certificates of thanks or a visit to ECL to see a session in progress.
