The directors of Sutton Chamber of Commerce are pleased to support the LXB Retail’s scheme to develop the gas holder site at the north end of Sutton High Street.
For the Chamber and local businesses, this scheme represents a win-win situation for Sutton. The proposals will regenerate the site at the north end of our High Street and will create approximately 500 new jobs for Sutton.
This area has been needing development for many years and these proposals provide the town with the opportunity to clean up the area and lift the values of the surrounding properties and businesses – all of which should be actively encouraged by the Council.
We believe that the scheme will have a positive impact on Sutton’s job market.
We understand that this development will bring a new Sainsbury’s supermarket as well as the opportunity for a healthy night time economy with the addition of family restaurants giving a positive addition to the north end of our town.
This is a positive scheme that will, as part of Opportunity Sutton, help the borough to thrive and grow and should have the full support of the local paper, the Council, businesses and local residents.
