A Croydon man has been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred after posting 'anti-Semitic' comments on Twitter following a football match.

The 24-year-old and a 22-year-old from Wiltshire were detained by police investigating tweets referring to Hitler and gas chambers after Tottenham Hotspur's 3-0 defeat to West Ham United on October 6.

Officers arrested a 48-year-old man in Canning Town on suspicion of inciting racial hatred in December 5 as part of the same investigation.

All three men have been bailed until late January pending further enquiries.

A separate investigation into anti-Semitic tweets after the same match led to a 55-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead being arrested and cautioned for malicious communications on November 28.
