Man critically ill after rescue from Norbury flat fire

A man in his 60s is critically ill after being rescued from a fire at a block of flats in Norbury.

The fire broke out in Norbury Crescent at around 12.35pm today. 

London Fire Brigade (LFB) sent four engines to the scene and rescued the man from the flat. 

London Ambulance Service sent an ambulance crew, the air ambulance and a specialist team equipped to deal with hazardous situations.

A man in his 60s was treated for burns and smoke inhalation on the scene and has been taken to King's College Hospital by road in a serious condition.

Police have closed the road. 

It is not yet known how the fire started. LFB said the flames were now under control.
