Four men are facing lengthy prison sentences after being found guilty of murdering teen Peter Hagan at house party in February this year.

Following an Old Bailey trial, which lasted two months, a jury of five men and seven women deliberated for more than a week before returning a guilty verdict this afternoon.

Romell Martin, 22, of Fairgreen Road, Thornton Heath, Dean Harmes, 27, of Garratt Lane, Wandsworth, Malki Ferguson, 22, and Jemaal Ferguson 23 of Albon House, Neville Gill Close, Wandsworth will be sentenced tomorrow.

During the trial the jury heard how 16-year-old Peter Hagan attended a birthday party of Jamilya Ferguson, sister of two of the accused on February 16.

He and a group of friends became involved in a fracas with the older men, who then used CS gas, knives, hammers and bottles to brutally assault the teenager.

Peter was one of several people who went onto the balcony to get fresh air but there he was confronted by members of the older group.

He was stabbed several times and while on the ground kicked and struck with a bottle. Two other youths were stabbed and others were also hit or struck with bottles.

He was found slumped in a stairwell on the ground floor of Albon House but, despite spending almost an hour with him, paramedics were unable to resuscitate him.

Dr Morris-Poole told the jury the fatal thigh wound was 13cm deep and 4.7cm wide.

The jury were shown CCTV footage of a man, believed to by Martin, running from the flat carrying a knife in his hand towards King George’s Park.

Minutes late he was shown running back to Albon House but without his t-shirt or the knife.

They also heard from a number of Peter’s friends who identified the four as the killers.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Simon Pickford, from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "The level of violence used was extreme and there was little or no provocation to spark the violence.

"These four men attended a teenager's birthday party and whilst there armed themselves with an array of weapons including a knife, CS spray and a hammer. They were clearly prepared to kill or seriously injure anyone who crossed them.

"This has been a brutal and shocking case. I would like to pay tribute to the victim's family who have conducted themselves with dignity throughout the investigation and court case.

"I would also like to thank the many other guests at the party who supported the police investigation."
