Fairfield Halls has recruited five creative apprentices and are looking for one more.

The group will be involved in all aspects of the venue, assisting with a variety of events including orchestral concerts, comedy, music gigs as well as touring theatre.

Three of the youths are Technical Theatre Apprentices and will be supported by an innovative training programme delivered in partnership with North Hertfordshire College, Association of British Theatre Technicians (ABTT), White Light Ltd and Ambassador Theatre Group.

The Hospitality and Catering Apprenticeship will be supported by Croydon College's Hospitality Services Apprenticeship framework.

The final two apprenticeships are being delivered in association with Diversity in Visual Arts (DIVA) and will see the apprentices work towards a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Community Arts Management.

One post in marketing has already been recruited for but Fairfield is currently inviting applicants for further positions in Artistic Programming (Education and Outreach).

Simon Thomsett, chief executive of Fairfield Halls said: "As an arts venue, we feel we have an important role to play as a provider of training and entry-level opportunities in our business.

"There’s nothing that beats getting proper, hands-on experience, working alongside established practitioners to acquire new skills. In turn, we benefit from the new energy the apprentices bring, their enthusiasm and their fresh outlook on things.

"Our team here has worked hard to create the six new apprenticeships and it is extremely rewarding to see these young people in place, working so enthusiastically in their new roles".
