Police have made a fresh appeal for information about a crash that killed a 57-year-old man in Selsdon last year.

Senthilnathan Subramaniam of Tedder Road, had been delivering newspapers he had collected from The Spa in Freeland Avenue, on Thursday December 20 last year when the suspected hit and run took place.

He had been making the delivery on foot in Warren Avenue before entering Shepherds Way and was found by police at 6.35am collapsed close to the junction with Broadcombe.

He was found with serious head and chest injuries and died later that morning at Croydon University Hospital. A special post-mortem was held at Croydon Mortuary and cause of death was recorded as multiple crush injuries to the head and torso.

The area where the collision happened is not used as a cut through and police believe it is highly likely the car involved belonged to a resident or to a visitor who had reason to attend the area that morning.

Detective Sergeant Mick Woollard, Road Death Investigation Unit said: "Somebody knows what happened that day, we still believe that the vehicle used either belonged to a resident or a visitor to the area.

"I believe locally someone knows what happened to Senthilnathan and I urge that person to make contact with us, your information could be vital to our investigation."

Mr Senthilnathan was born in Kollankeddy, Sri Lanka and moved to Croydon with his wife in the early 1990s.

Paying tribute to him last year, his son told the Croydon Guardian: "He was quite a quiet person and he was caring. "He was gentle and nice and I never saw him angry.

"He was also really funny at times and will be missed."
