Partygoers are encouraged to plan ahead and get home safely this New Year’s Eve, with amendments made to travel services.

Free Travel will be available from 11.45pm to 4.30am on the Tube, buses, DLR, Tramlink and until last trains on London Overground.

A special all-night service will be running on the London Tramlink. From Wimbledon to Beckenham and Wimbledon to New Addington, trams will be running every 30 minutes.

On the Southern line, no services will be running between Purley and Gatwick Airport with reduced services between the Sussex Coast, Gatwick Airport and Central London.

People choosing to take a taxi home are reminded to only take a black cab or a pre-booked minicab, with TFL’s Cabwise service allowing travellers to book a licensed minicab or a black cab which is closest to their current location.

Some selected Tube stations will be closed completely or for periods at a time for crowd control and safety purposes.

Night buses and 24 hour routes will also be operating; some routes may be on diversion due to road closures in central London.

The Mayor’s New Year’s Eve firework display at the London Eye is expected to draw large crowds around the Thames.

London’s Transport Commissioner, Sir Peter Hendy CBE, said: “It has been another fantastic year in the capital and I am sure that thousands of people will be out in London celebrating the end of 2013 in style.”
