A convenience store and its neighbouring businesses raised more than £1,000 for a leading children’s charity by running a raffle for customers.

The One Stop store on Cross Road, Tadworth, raised £1,610 before Christmas, for The Children’s Trust, in Tadworth, a charity for children with multiple disabilities and acquired brain injuries.

Other businesses contributed to the prizes on offer - which included a wide screen television, a turkey and a hamper.

One Stop’s store manager, Dilan Indrajth visited the charity on Friday, January 3, to donate the money.

He said: "It was a great way to get the community and other nearby businesses involved in fundraising for an amazing charity which is just on our doorstep."

Karen Phillips, community fundraising manager for the trust, added: "This is a tremendous amount of money to raise in such a short space of time.

"I’d like to say a massive thanks to the shop staff and local community for supporting The Children’s Trust."
