In the week before Christmas, Morrison's kindly allowed the Rotary Club of Sutton to collect for local charities in their store.
We would like to express, through the Sutton Guardian, our thanks to them and also to the public for giving so generously.
We are also grateful for the help from the charities themselves which led to a total of £2,364 being collected, the highest for several years.
Around £1,900 of this will go directly to those charities that helped - the Save the Children Fund, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, St. Raphael's Hospice and the Macular Degeneration Society, with over £400 remaining for the Rotary Club to pass on to other charitable causes.
Shoppers were entertained by several musicians and were delighted to hear three children's choirs from Rushy Meadow, All Saints Benhilton (CofE) and Amy Johnson Primary Schools, and an adult choir from local churches, all arranged for Save the Children Fund. Everyone appreciated their hard work in preparation and delivering their joyful performances.
