Two intrepid drivers are preparing to drive thousands of miles to a series of cryptic locations across Europe to raise money for charity.
Joe Richardson, 32, and Ben Beckett, 25, who work in Epsom, are taking part in the four-day rally, called Scumrun, in aid of pregnancy research charity Tommy’s.
A friend, Kevin Marshall, is building them a Mazda MX5 with a Jaguar V8 engine for the rally in May but a backup car, BMW 5 series V8, is also being kept on standby.
Team Bugsplat prepare for the trip across Europe
The pair, who work at management consultancy firm Kantar Retail in Church Street, Epsom, have called themselves Team Bugsplat.
Lead driver Mr Richardson said: "We’re driving 3,000 miles in four days in a car that currently sits in a workshop in pieces, we don’t know will even drive and to our knowledge has never been built before, what is there to worry about?"
Lead navigator Mr Beckett, from Brixton, said: "We don’t know where we are going and apparently only get random clues, it is not a question of whether we get lost, it’s by how far and for how long!"
Tommy’s funds research into stillbirths, premature births and miscarriages as well as providing information to parents-to-be.
Mr Richardson, from Guildford, said: "My wife and I and our close family have had some sad pregnancy experiences and therefore this is a charity really close to our hearts."
