The road where a teenager was stabbed this morning has been labelled a ‘war zone’ by a witness who saw the gangs clash.

An 18-year-old was found in Queen’s Road with stab wounds, at the junction with Pawsons Road, at about 1.45am this morning.

He was taken to hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

One witness, who wished to remain anonymous, said at least 20 people were involved in the fight, which is believed to be gang related.

They added there were lots of cars and weapons including metal poles and rocks were used to throw at each other and smash cars.

The witness said one car was badly smashed in and others were damaged.

They said: “There were two groups. I don’t know if it was a turf thing but it was a group who had a major problem with another group.

“There is definitely a lot of problems in this area, it is a high crime area. Regularly people are arrested for carrying weapons and there is often a police helicopter about.”

The witness added: “I will certainly be moving out the area as soon as possible, it is become too much.

“This particular area is bad. I have had numerous friends who have been attacked. It is just too much.

“I did not want to get too close but I saw someone who was badly injured and I saw the knife on the floor along with a lot of the other weapons.

“Quite frankly this place is a war zone now. You might go a couple of weeks where nothing happens but usually there is something going on.” Another resident said: “They arrived in cars and it all kind of spilled out from there. There were objects thrown as well but then they dispersed.

“I have been told it was gang related which is quite worrying really. You don’t want that happening.”

Three men, who are aged in their late teens to early 20s, were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

They all remain in custody at a south London police station.
