Talking is usually frowned upon in libraries but for one group of crafters in Sanderstead it is encouraged.
The women meet up in the library in Farm Fields for the Knit and Natter sessions and enjoy tea and cake and a chat.
And while they chat they knit hats, blankets and other items for the special care baby unit (SCBU) at Croydon University Hospital.
SCBU ward manager Lyn Ooi said: “We really appreciate all of the hard work the knitters put in on behalf of our unit.
“It’s very important that the poorly and premature babies are kept nice and warm, and the items that the knitters put their time in to make for them make a real difference.”
Get in touch with your nearest knitting group or contact Friends of Croydon University Hospital on 020 8401 3113 to find out how to get involved.
