Young people in Croydon are being asked to put their experiences of modern technology on camera - with the chance of winning a cash prize.

Crystal Palace International Film Festival (CPIFF) has launched a competition for 11 to 19-year-olds to submit film entries based on the theme of 'staying technology safe'.

The project wants entrants to explore issues surrounding young people's use of technology, including dangers such as sexting, trolling and cyber bullying.

Films need to be between three and 10 minutes long and can be funny, serious, theatrical or musical.

The winning entry will receive £250.

Festival co-ordinator Roberta Gallinari said: "Young people often feel adults are out of touch with the issues they face in regards to modern technology.

"We feel there is no better way to communicate about keeping safe in this technological age than with a project by young people for young people, after all they can express themselves to each other far more effectively."

To take part in the competition, entrants must currently be living, going to school or attending a youth project in Croydon.

Films must be submitted by midnight on March 21. The winners will be announced by April 30.
