A motorist died after being run over by his own car.
Colin Fitzgerald, aged 72, was dragged along Spurgeon Road in Upper Norwood after leaning into his parked car and turning the ignition, an inquest heard yestertoday.
He had parked the vehicle in gear near the junction with Beulah Hill while attending a hospital appointment on August 1.
When he returned the opened the car door and turned on the engine, causing the car to move.
Mr Fitzgerald, of Tulse Hill, suffered chest injuries and died three days later in King's College Hospital.
Two other cars were damaged but no one else was injured.
Croydon coroner Dr Roy Palmer recorded a verdict on death by misadventure.
On the opening of the inquest in August, Dr Palmer said: "He had an accident with his own car. It rolled down the hill and ran him over causing him injuries."
