Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a woman was grabbed and threatened last night.

The victim, in her 20s, lost jewellery, cash and her iPhone during the mugging in Gibraltar Recreation Ground in Ewell at about 7.40pm.

A 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were arrested nearby a short time later and remain in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Oana King said: "The victim was left extremely shaken following this incident and I hope the quick arrest of two people, will go some way to reassure her and the public of Ewell.

"Robbery is a frightening crime and the impact of being a victim can stay with a person for some time therefore we will also thoroughly investigate all allegations and where possible bring offenders to justice.”

Officers from the Epsom and Ewell Safer Neighbourhood Team are making enquiries to assist detectives with their investigation and provide reassurance.
